Halo 3 has, without a doubt, garnered more publicity than any video game in history. With the release of the Microsoft game on Monday night countless gamers across the globe stood outside retail stores hoping to get a copy. Their goal, find a way to save Earth from the invading alien races known as the Covenant.
While saving the Earth is a noble goal Microsoft has different ideas, they’re just hoping Halo 3 will save the Xbox 360 and vault them into the lead in the video game consul wars.
GameSpot reported that more than 4 million units of Halo 3 were in retail stores for its launch.
The sale of the Halo 3 game itself should bring in several hundreds of millions for Microsoft but the company is expecting to see a dramatic spike in the sale of their Xbox 360 as well, estimating that 30 percent of those who purchase the game will also purchase the consul.
