EverySpace Goes Further Than Google Maps, Mapquest

EverySpace, a new website that offers directions online, has become the cutting-edge site for routes and maps.

EverySpace, unlike other sites like MapQuest, shows monuments, businesses and streets from ground level. The site allows people to take a virtual tour of a city, scrolling through the urban landscape with the click of a button.

Google Maps has a function that is similar, which is known as Street View. However, EverySpace, a Massachusetts-based start-up, allows users to not only explore a neighborhood but also to go inside shops and restaurants.

EverySpace is not as expansive as others as it focuses on a few major cities. However, users can navigate through those cities' neighborhoods and tourist sites. A special icon next to a building invites users to enter and have a look around.

EverySpace has received $7 million from venture capital firms, but it faces compliance issues if it decides to expand internationally. The European Union issued a statement last month warning Google to comply with the region's strict privacy laws. Google responded by blurring the faces of people in its Street View.
