Japan Craft Beer Association official Ryoji Oda mentioned that "We have been organizing the nation's largest beer event every year since 1998, and this year we will feature beers in seven different colors.”
Individuals will be able to enjoy beers in unusual colors such as gold, red, blue, and four other colors that include wasabi extract, strawberries and miso ingredients.
The Japan Beer Festival 2007 will begin on September 15. General admission will be 4,000 yen ($35 USD) that will allow entrants to try 150 Japanese and imported microbrews. Drafts will be served in 50-cc glasses in order to encourage visitors to sample as many beers as possible.
Oda said, "We want people to taste premium beers that are very different from those produced by major breweries." "The character of craft beer differs depending on where they are produced. American microbrews, for example, have a strong taste of hops, while British real ale has a lower alcohol content than its Japanese counterpart."
In the midst of the beer tasting festivities, on September 16, the winner of the international beer competition will be announced. Contestants will be evaluated based upon the aroma, taste, and other features of their beers.
