It is being reported that Apple is changing the current look of their stores overnight on Tuesday, August 25th in order to make more space and cause less confusion for their customers.
The iPod, a once key component in Apple’s product lineup, is making a return from the back room to the rack so that they can now be purchased directly from the accessories section instead of the customer having to request one from a sales rep. With the upgrade of the iPod Touch, and the focus on the iPod Nano and Shuffle, it allows the iPod to remain relevant and catch the eye of customers.
Apple is also removing the iPad 2 Smart Signs in the store that act as digital posters to give the customer various information about in-store deals, products, and pricing. There have been issues in the stores with customers believing these Smart Signs were working iPads that could be tested out. The product and pricing information will now be directly on the displays of the items for sale including computers, iPhones, and iPads. This change, in particular, will help to create more store pace for products that consumers can test, including redesigned iPhones.
