How Kathie Nelson Went From Confined to a Wheelchair to Walking and Internationally Speaking her story presented in Coni Meyers’s new book Crystalline Moments

Kathie Nelson is like so many women of her generation. She came out of high school, got a job at a deli, at 20 she got married, had a child at 21 and at 22 was divorced. Many parents at the time thought that their sons needed one kind of education and their girls another. Many young girls thought that they were meant to stay home, be a homemaker and raise the children. Most young girls at that time did not think about a career after graduating high school. Kathie was no different. When she got pregnant she quit her job. She chose to be a stay at home Mom as that had always been her dream. When her husband decided he did not want to be married anymore they divorced.  Now she had a child, no money, no job, nothing of her own. She made a commitment that she would never be in that position again. That was a crystalline moment that would affect the rest of her life.  Many women of her generation found themselves in a similar position and made the same commitment.
At 23 she was in a car accident that put her into a wheelchair and being told she would never walk again. In her story she talks about how she made the decision that she was not going to let the fact that she could not walk stop her. She refused to accept the fact that the doctors told her she would never walk again.  
Her story is one of strength, bravery, determination and believing in the possible when everyone is saying it is impossible. She was determined to not only just be able to walk but to get back to full functionality. 
 
She goes on to have several more crystalline moments in finding who she really was. She had been raised by parents from the depression and the mindset of her childhood affected her way into her adult life.  
In her story she talks about how she was able to discover who she really was and overcame not just physical but emotional injuries. She had simple practices to remind her when she was getting off track that anyone can use.
