For the fourth year, the guest curator and organizer of the “Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design” exhibition is noted costume designer Mary Rose, Television Academy Governor, Costume Design & Supervision, and President of the Costume Designers Guild. Ms. Rose, a noted designer for feature films, television/cable series and movies, is now serving her seventh term as Governor with the Costume Design and Supervision Peer Group of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Since 1991, exhibitions have been viewed in the FIDM Museum & Galleries on the ground floor of the college. February 2000 saw the opening of our expanded galleries. Exhibitions are installed throughout the year, and range from traveling exhibitions to FIDM students' work and FIDM-developed installations. “The FIDM Museum & Galleries presents two major exhibitions annually, including "The Art of Motion Picture Costume Design" and "The Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design”. According to Barbara Bundy, Vice President–Education, FIDM, “The exhibitions feature costumes from the previous year's best films and television programs including samplings of Academy Award®-nominated and Emmy® Award-nominated costumes.”

Winners of The Costume Designers Guild Awards will be announced on February 17, 2009 at the awards gala. Founded in 1953, The Costume Designers Guild aspires to raise the stature of the Costume Design profession within the entertainment community commensurate with the incalculable contribution Costume Designers make to each motion picture, television, or commercial, illuminating the characters with accuracy and integrity, thereby enhancing the story.
