Dawna Lee Heising Interviews Legendary Actor Aki Aleong for Eye on Entertainment

Aleong Discusses His 50 Year Career as Actor, Singer, Writer, Musician, Producer, Activist and His Award-winning, Soon-to-Be-Released Film "Chinaman's Chance: America's Other Slaves"

“Eye on Entertainment” has announced that the nationally broadcast television show's newest segment is devoted to an interview of Aki Aleong, who discusses his 50-year show business career as actor, singer, writer, musician, producer and activist. Interviewed by host Dawna Lee Heising and filmed by John Cox, Aleong reveals insights into being the first Asian American to have reached the heights of starring and co-starring in more than 50 movies and 250 television shows.  During the “Eye” segment, Aleong discusses his appearance on screen with such luminaries as Sinatra, Brando, McQueen and other A-list stars.  He also proudly discusses his service on the National Boards of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and MANAA, as well as his stints as National Chair of the EEOC of SAG, a member of the President's Diversity / Affirmative Action Task Force and the Executive Director of AIM (Asians in Media).  To see the interview, please visit:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrMiSlG_p38
     
Aleong started his acting career on Broadway in "Teahouse of the August Moon" and "The Interview." He went on to star in several live television shows.  Among other major stars, he has appeared with Roger Moore, Peter Lawford, Tony Randall, Joanne Woodward, Chuck Norris, Pierce Brosnan. He proudly talks about his having been signed to appear in all three major networks and alludes to his co-starring stint with leading Japanese actress Shirley Yamaguchi in a film written by Nobel Peace Prize-winning Pearl S. Buck.

Aleong’s other accomplishments include having been a record executive/producer/artist. He was also Chairman of The Fraternity of Recording Executives (FORE; an organization dedicated to bringing executives of color into the music business), president of Pan World Records and Golden Dragon Publishing companies,  National Director of Promotion for Polydor/Polygram Records, Liberty/UA Records and Capitol Records. He also produced records for Columbia Records, Capitol, Liberty/UA, Artista and other labels.

Aleong has also produced videos and documentaries and was the first Asian-American to have a top-100 record, which he wrote and produced, on the national charts in the US. He is also the Assistant National Director of R & B Productions. He is also the President of Mustard Seed Entertainment and MANAA (Media Action Network for Asian Americans).  Aleong discusses his soon- to-be-released film, “Chinaman’s Chance: America’s Other Slaves.”  The film, which was completed as “I Am Somebody,” promises to explode several myths surrounding Chinese immigrants working on the railroads in the United States.  The film has won many awards in film festivals around the world.  Aleong has received Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Bare Bones International Film Festival and at the Treasure Coast International Film Festival.
