Dawna Lee Heising of Eye on Entertainment Appeared in the Rag City Spoof

A native New Yorker who hails from a family full of actors, Jake Smollett began his career as a baby diaper-model. He got his scripted start on the series Hanging with Mr. Cooper before starring alongside his five brothers and sisters in their ABC sitcom, On Our Own. Smollett also starred as Samuel L. Jackson’s son in the critically acclaimed feature film Eve’s Bayou, directed by Kasi Lemmons.  Most recently seen in ABC Family’s cult favorite, The Middleman, Jake co-starred as the flighty yet infectious, Noser, a musician who is forever working on a “concept album.” Aside from acting, Jake is a longtime supporter of Artist for a New South Africa (ANSA), a nonprofit organization working in the US and South Africa to combat HIV/AIDS, assist children orphaned by AIDS, advance human and civil rights, safeguard voting rights, and educate and empower the youth.
