Dawna Lee Heising of Eye on Entertainment Covers CALLOUS DVD Launch Party at Busby’s East

CALLOUS Has Won Many Awards on the Festival Circuit, including Best Director (Joey Lanai), Best Actress (Kari Nissena) and Four Best Picture Awards

The CALLOUS DVD Launch Party was held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Busby’s East in Los Angeles, California. CALLOUS has won many awards on the festival circuit, including Best Director (Joey Lanai), Best Actress (Kari Nissena) and four Best Picture Awards.   The feature film by Drop Dead Pictures is based on a true story. 

The film was written by Chris Billett and Joey Lanai, and was directed by Joey Lanai.  The director of photography for Callous is Chris Ekstein, who is also the CEO of Market Street Productions.  The cast includes:  Joey Lanai, Kari Nissena, Madison Nicole Alexander, Thom Michael Mulligan, Brian Groh, Seth Adams, Brenda Hattingh, Paul Major, Jamie Wilson and Bill Oberst.  Part of the profits from the film will go to help children who were victims of abuse.

Callous is an unpredictable and violent ride seen through the eyes of Garrett Blackfoot. This once-abused fragile boy is now a single father haunted by the demons of his childhood. In denial of his Native American lineage, he is brought face to face with the reality that there is a spiritual plane, and that the things he saw in the shadows as a child may be more than just imagined.   His own mother is the catalyst of his painful youth and devourer of his future.  He must wrestle with his best intentions for his daughter, a race against time to save his dying brother, and the unceasing effort to contain a rage sown from the seeds of despair, abandonment and revenge.
